StumbleUpon の使い方 気に入った Web ページを StumbleUpon に登録する

概要

StumbleUpon では、自分の興味のあるカテゴリを設定しておきます。そして、Stumble すると、自分の興味のあるカテゴリに合った Web ページが表示されます。

Stumble して表示される Web ページは、いつ? どのように? StumbleUpon に登録された?
という疑問が生じます。
あるいは、Stumble して表示される Web ページを Like できるのだが、Stumble で表示されたわけではない Web ページを Like しようとしたら、どうするのか?
という疑問も生じます。

気に入った Web ページを StumbleUpon に登録する手順をみていきます。
StumbleUpon に Web ページを登録する、ということは、「StumbleUpon に未登録の Web ページを Like する」 というイメージの扱いになるようです。

気に入った Web ページを StumbleUpon に登録する手順

ここでは例として、自分のブログのページを StumbleUpon に登録してみることにします。

StumbleUpon にログインして、プロフィールを表示し、"Add a new page" をクリックします。

下記画面が表示されます。

各項目を入力して、"Add This Page" をクリックします。

• Web page address
  StumbleUpon に登録する Web ページの URL を入力します。
• Is this page safe for work?
  StumbleUpon に登録する Web ページが、アダルト系のような場合には、"No" を選択します。そうでなければ "Yes" です。
• What's this page about?
  カテゴリをリストから選択します。
• Add Tags (optional)
  タグを入力します。「タグって何?」 については、ヘルプの "What are tags?" で説明されていますが、ヒトコトで言うと 「Web ページに関連するキーワード」 といったところでしょうか。
• Write a comment (optional)
  コメントを入力します。
• What's the page's language?
  言語を選択します。

下記画面が表示されます。
前述しましたが、StumbleUpon に Web ページを登録する、ということは、「StumbleUpon に未登録の Web ページを Like する」 というイメージの扱いになるようですので、自分の Like にも追加されます。
そこで、自分の Like に追加されたかを見てみるために、"Your Likes" をクリックします。

自分の Like に追加されたことが確認できます。

注意事項

How to Add a Page to StumbleUpon（Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in Official Blog）には、以下のように書かれています。

Don’t self-promote too much. Recommending too many pages from your own domain can be considered spam. StumbleUpon is a communal effort; it really does take a village to sustain it. Disproportionately recommending pages from a domain you own or with which you’re affiliated is frowned upon by other members of the StumbleUpon community, and can actually result in those pages being recommended by StumbleUpon even less frequently to other members. Instead, put a badge on your page so Stumblers who find those pages themselves can add and share them. We like to think of StumbleUpon’s page selection process as a meritocracy where only the highest quality pages get in front of our members.

また、ヘルプには、以下のように書かれています。

Can I use StumbleUpon to promote my web page?
StumbleUpon was created to help people share and discover interesting content, so if you have a personal, non-commercial web page that you’d like to share with others, you are permitted to add it to StumbleUpon. There are limits in place regarding how many times you can add a page from a single domain ? if you approach or reach that limit, you may be identified as spammer.

「どのくらい多く登録したら spam 扱いになるのか?」 は、書かれていませんが、StumbleUpon の思想から考えるに、「サイトプロモーションに利用する」 という使い方は、歓迎されないと思われます。
